Pomegranate & Cardiovascular: Recent Research with Patients Undergoing Dialysis
There is much research on the Pomegranate, and in fact, its effect on different conditions and systems in the body is impressive - for antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-inflammation, and even anti-diabetes.
Today we will look at reviews on pomegranate and its effect on heart health.
Baghdadi et al. (2023) and Barati et al. (2020) find Pomegranate to bestow many benefits: lower blood pressure, lower lipids, and cholesterol - and in our article today, in patients who undergo hemodialysis (kidney).
Both research groups found that pomegranate is an excellent fruit for cardiovascular health by looking at bio-markers such as triglycerides, HDL, LDL, blood pressure (both systolic and diastolic), antioxidant capacity, interleukin-6 and more.
The patients tested were all on dialysis and the different studies used juice, extracts, and even the extract from the peel - all with excellent results.
I have always loved the pomegranate - such a beautiful fruit, albeit messy to cut and messier to eat - all these red, juicy seeds - and the taste is a piece of heaven.
Enjoy this magical fruit, so ancient, and give a try to our Cranberry Pomegranate with probiotics and supernatant.
