Arnie Gitomer, on COVID-19: Finding a Redemptive View- Putting good into the world.

I asked Arnie Gitomer, the owner of Willner Chemists in Manhattan- the oldest and largest nutritionally oriented prescription pharmacy in North America, for a spontaneous response to the question, what is the redemptive value in this COVID Pandemic? Here's Arnie's response,
"For me Covid-19 made me realize how important the health of the people close to you is. And, how important is the love you have for one another, what you are willing to do for each other. I am thankful that Phyllis and I stayed healthy, our little puppy is healthy. Your health is the most important thing there is.
The world we live in has changed dramatically. I remember the end of WWII. I grew up listening to radio, there wasn’t a TV until I was about 7 or 8 years old. So the changes that I have seen over my lifetime are amazing. Especially the relationship between people. When I was growing up somebody who was a homosexual was almost shunned, and you never have heard about transgender. Look how everything has changed, same sex marriages, the intermarriage of white and people of color, and how far we’ve come. Who ever thought that you would have a computer in your hand? I grew up in Brooklyn and my neighborhood was a little ghetto. It was mostly Jewish folks. Nobody had anything but nobody knew that they didn’t have anything. We all lived in apartments; nobody had a house. There were cars but none of us had cars. Nobody knew that we were poor because everybody was like us. To me, coming from where I came from is amazing. I am thankful.
When I think about all the stress, and fear, and anger and unrest and COVID of today, the thing for me, the most important thing is we have to do unto others as we would have them do unto us. We have to treat people like we want to be treated. If everybody did that then there would be no problems, but you know people forget that. They concentrate on themselves. Life is about doing good, as you know Seann. The stuff that you do is good, because that goes in the universe and it Is good for everybody. Everything comes back from the universe and that is what we have to concentrate on. And then the world will be a better place. The most important thing is to put good into the world."
