Minerals as Pharmacological Drugs Against Diseases?

This seemingly innocent review article on trace minerals in human health had a great surprise for me - using trace minerals differently, as drugs.

The research team of Silva et al. ((2019) describes the use of metal - based drugs or "metallodrugs" as an example of controlling metal toxicity for treating serious illnesses like cancer, diabetes, Huntington's diseases and others.

For example, anti-cancer metal complexes that include copper and manganese.

Silva's team goes over the use of Iron as an antibacterial and anticancer agent, by synthesizing iron as single iron nanocatalysts atom. And it gets even more interesting from there!

A worthy Article from the International Journal of Science and Research Methodology (IJSRM) and the team of Silva.
