Weight Loss and Type 2 Diabetes
An article by Greger (2026) caught me by surprise: with up to 15% of body weight loss it is possible to reverse type two diabetes for 90% of individuals who have had the condition for less than four years.
This is quite a statement and worthy of exploration.
For individuals who have had it for longer than eight years, it is 50% possible to achieve non-diabetic blood sugar levels (Taylor, 2016). Still, very promising, and as we advance our knowledge we will understand how to raise the percentage of healing.
According to Greger (2026), diet has been known to help manage type two diabetes, and especially, a disciplined approach to diet (Elliot Joslin, 1917). Weight loss is key.
Alongside a sharp increase in body weight in the past few decades, we have seen an increase in type two diabetes, and decrease of the disease when weight is under control.
I highly recommend reading Greger's article, and reading the information in the References below on weight loss and possible remission of type two diabetes. In particular check out Taylor's 2019, and 2024 articles.
Slowing down the absorption of sugar and carbohydrate, and helping our system to burn fat is the design purpose for Weight Less.
